How to Volunteer

The Westside Neighbors Network Shelter seeks compassionate volunteers both on- and offsite.

Onsite, volunteers are needed for tasks such as

The pantry at the shelter
The shelter’s pantry contains donated goods for making breakfast and dinner.
  • preparing and serving breakfast
  • preparing and serving dinner
  • doing client/facility laundry (machines onsite)
  • sorting clothing donations
  • general cleaning of the facility
  • helping clients with nighttime setup

Offsite, volunteers can help by

  • preparing a meal and dropping it off
  • grocery shopping
  • other errands as needed

Volunteers can sign up for specific tasks on our online volunteer schedule. However, before volunteers are able to access and add themselves to the volunteer schedule, a brief conversation and orientation at the facility with Keith Hughes is required. Also, for liability reasons, all onsite volunteers must be age 18 or older, unless accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian for the entire time they are onsite.

The first step toward volunteering with Westside Neighbors Network is filling out this brief questionnaire. It will tell us a little more about you, and confirm your contact information. Once you submit the questionnaire, a shelter volunteer will contact you to set up a meeting and onsite orientation with Keith Hughes.
