The Shelter will be open again 11 am to 8 pm tomorrow, August 17, offering water, food, and air conditioning.

The Shelter is open as a cooling center during the Hot Weather Emergency this evening from 5 pm to 9 pm. Tomorrow, the Shelter will be open from 10 am to 9 pm. Keith has placed portable air conditioning units in the East Room, Lobby, and Main Hall. Also, dinner will be served this evening

Thanks to donated labor and materials from several local businesses, the roof on the American Legion building has been replaced! The 40-year-old roof had been in bad shape, especially after high winds tore off two huge pieces in January. Currently the shelter could use hot cocoa mix packets, powdered coffee creamer, underwear, T-shirts, and jeans (men’s and women’s). Best time for drop off is between 7:30 and 11 am.

Congratulations to Keith! This morning, Governor Jay Inslee and First Lady Trudi Inslee toured the shelter and presented owner Keith Hughes with a certificate naming him Washingtonian of the Day for his initiative and efforts helping people needing shelter. Unfortunately, the case managers scheduled to visit today will not be able to make it. We apologize, and hope to have them back again when possible.
