Our fearless Commander, Keith Hughes, requests your attention and generosity for Giving Tuesday. The shelter faces a challenging winter, but good news: The Burien Severe Weather Shelter, operated by Highline United Methodist Church (13015 1st Ave S), is working in cooperation with Westside Neighbors Shelter to provide overnight staffing and security for the 2025-2026 winter season. For the past seven winters, Burien SWS has provided overnight shelter with trained staff at Highline UMC during severe weather events.
Anything Helps, a local nonprofit dedicated to creating pathways to stability for people experiencing homelessness, is very active at the shelter. Many folks have received housing or other critical services via their talented and compassionate team.
The Westside Neighbors Shelter is still the ONLY facility on the Westside offering services for the unhoused. You help make that happen with your compassion and generosity.
By attending to our neighbors experiencing homelessness, we provide a place to rest and feel seen and cared for. This attention goes a long way toward reducing the harm and trauma of homelessness. You can be a part of reducing these effects by supporting our efforts via Giving Tuesday. What a powerful difference you make!
Thank you for being part of this community that cares about our neighbors, no matter what circumstance they find themselves in. YOU make a difference with your time, talent and treasure!
